Menorca - Island of the wind 

Nearly untouched by mass tourism, Menorca offers secluded bays, long sandy beaches with cristal clear water, idyllic sea ports and a rich biota. Separated in two regions - rough Tramontana in the North and smooth Migjorn in the South. Menorca´s biggest towns Ciutadella and Mahòn (Maò) are situated opposite to each other on the west- and east coast. While Ciutadella is more the town to preserve the island´s traditions, the capital Mahòn - strongly influenced by the english culture - has a more metropolitan aura. Although around Ciutadella new and modern residential areas grow, the town´s centre kept it´s medieval atmosphere. Mahòn, which has the second largest natural sea port in the world, has a more open and cultural atmosphere. The little towns all over the island have each their own charme: Alaior with its alleys like a labyrinth, Es Castell - the city of immigrants, Ferreries whose slopes feature terraced gardens, the characteristical white chalked houses and speciality restaurants of Es Mercadal and idyllic Es Migjorn Gran. To the south of Mahòn is San Lluís, a neat little town with parcs and sport facilities. As UNESCO-biosphere reserve Menorca offers all possibilities to enjoy nature: hiking, climbing, diving, snorkeling or horse riding. Near Mercadal lies the only Golf court in Menorca. It is the Baleare´s only court directly at the sea, which offers the most stunning views while playing.
